our story

As a child, I was fortunate to grow up immersed in a family of painters, photographers, and designers. Although my parents devoted much of their lives to academia, they ensured that art, music, and literature were permeated in our home. In retrospect, it is clear how profoundly that early environment shaped my creativity.

In my early twenties, after brief but formative experiences with Melbourne’s alternative designers Baba Jah, Dresden Workshop, and Equinox, I found myself captivated by the beautiful fabrics in Loro Piana bunches at what has since become a Melbourne retail myth, Harrolds.

That moment marked the beginning of a journey spanning more than two decades. I immersed myself fully in the world of sartorial tailoring and textiles, continually refining my approach to styling and honing my technical discipline in fabrics and fit. This pursuit ultimately led me to the Ermenegildo Zegna Su Misura Academy in Switzerland. Along the way, I was privileged to form lasting friendships with some of Melbourne’s most discerning and influential Sartorialists—relationships that profoundly shaped my vision.

It was only natural that this journey would culminate in the creation of my own atelier: an intimate studio conceived to serve the loyal clients who have accompanied me throughout my career.

Established in 2024, Deorum is an exclusive made-to-measure house nestled in the heart of Toorak. By appointment, our private showroom offers Melbourne’s sartorial community direct access to Italy’s artisanal tailoring and leisurewear.

From fully bespoke Neapolitan ateliers such as Orazio Luciano and Luigi Borrelli, to established Su Misura programs by Raffaele Caruso, alongside fully customised leisurewear and accessories by Paolo Albizzati and Xacus, Deorum operates as a private club—where a man can conceive and create an entire wardrobe according to his exact vision.

To underpin the artisanship of our makers, we have chosen not to distance ourselves from the elite, multigenerational textile mills that have become tailoring icons. Instead, we curate carefully a selection of fabrics specifically chosen to reflect our clients’ tastes and lifestyles.

Each season, we select the most outstanding bunches from Lanificio Zegna, Dormeuil, and Loro Piana—not for their contrasts, but for their consistency. Alongside Solbiati S.r.l. and F.lli Caccioppoli di V.zo., these fabric houses represent a continuity of quality and heritage, forming the most accurate expression of the Deorum vision.

When it comes to our approach, after more than 20 years in pursuit of the most outstanding sartorial experience, it has become remarkably simple. We listen carefully to our clients, style with the same attention and care we expect of ourselves, and measure meticulously to ensure a truly exceptional fit.

Our aim—clients who return season after season, as many have for years.

Our philosophy—we do not seek to revolutionise the sartorial experience; rather, we see ourselves as custodians of its true essence.

“Style for me is expression in the simplest form. I love symmetry and minimalism, soft silhouettes, and monochromatic palettes in earthy tones and dark shades. I am a pragmatist when it comes to tailoring. It must be adaptive, comfortable, and just barely nonconformist enough to be noticed.”
